Driver to Europe Scholarship

On the 13th March, 1958, Bruce and his friend Colin Beanland left New Zealand for the UK after Bruce had won the inaugural Driver to Europe scholarship presented by the New Zealand International Grand Prix Association. This enabled him to start his career in England and the rest is of course, ‘history’. The Trust wants to give young New Zealanders the opportunity to gain experience overseas and is the reason we will be supporting two scholarships. One for an engineer from Auckland University (where Bruce was a student), to spend 3 months at McLaren Racing in England, and another for a young driver. The details for the latter are still being decided.
